The Lucky Strike Cigarette brand was initially introduced by R.A. Patterson belonging to Richmond, Virginia, in the year 1871 as a cut-plug tobacco for chewing and later on was applied on cigarettes manufactured. In year 1905, the company got sold to American Tobacco Company

During 1960 Filtered and Menthol flavor variants were made available in the market by the Brand Name “lucky Strike Green” which signified presence of menthol different from the earlier product. Brown & Williamson purchase the US rights and Export rights of lucky Strike cigarettes.

In year 2006 the Full Flavored and Light filtered variants of Lucky Strike cigarettes got disrupted in North America. Lucky Strike continues to be marketed and distributed in markets under British American Tobacco company. Besides R.J. Reynold is marketing the original, non-filter Lucky Strikes in the United States. Lucky Strikes at present has a small very loyal base of smokers.

In 2007 there was innovation in packaging of Lucky Strikes was made enabling a 2 way opening splitting 7 cigarettes coming out of each opening of pack.Again the promotion campaign and ads were focused on the world’s smallest man, He Pingping..

Lucky Strike in the Media:

There was great presence of Lucky Strike at the Television commercials to begin with in 1960 the slogan “Lucky Strikes separates men from boys and not from girls”. Another catchy slogan cornered around “Show me a filter cigarette that delivers taste and I shall eat my hat”. People wearing hats with a bite mark was the visual. This was later on changed to people wearing normal hats.

A logo designed by an industrial designer Raymond Loewy was used with futura condensed bold text with little modification.

Lucky strike sponsored Jack Benny’s radio and television programs in the year 1940. Lucky Strike sponsored Bar honda team.

Lucky strike enjoyed good association with various Holywood personalities extending lucky star support and testmonials and intentionlly lucky strike packingwas shown in their movies screened to public.
